Stand with Daryl Manns for a safer Gwinnett
Daryl has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to ensuring he serves any community of which he is a member-a result of the influence and example provided by his parents, a United States Army veteran and a 6th grade teacher. He is a proud graduate of Morehouse College and Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law, where he served as the Student Bar Association President. Daryl consistently contributed significant time in community service throughout all stages of his life. From mentoring at risk youth to coaching high school mock trial, Daryl has a clear record of community service. While in law school, he accepted an internship in the Houston Judicial Circuit, where he focused on Juvenile Court cases. This experience strengthened his commitment to serving individuals in the criminal justice system and addressing early intervention and diversion strategies for youths at increased risk of involvement in criminal activity. He continues that effort through his current involvement in initiatives like the S.T.R.A.P. (Seeking The Right and Amendable Path) program which focuses on helping youth who have had involvement with the criminal justice system navigate their way back onto the right path.
Soon after passing the GA Bar Exam, Daryl launched his career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Houston County District Attorney’s Office where during his tenure, he primarily focused on the prosecution of felony drug and illegal firearms cases. In 2014, Daryl transitioned to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney, eventually being promoted to the position of Chief Assistant District Attorney in Gwinnett which involved oversight and management of the office functions while directly supervising the Drug and Gang Taskforce. In his career, Daryl has directly prosecuted over 1,000 felony cases in Gwinnett County.
Crime in Gwinnett County is a growing concern for all citizens. I will be fair and always recommend sentencing alternatives for non-violent criminals. However, I will have no tolerance towards criminals who commit an act of violence in our community. Anyone who is a repeat offender will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I will make it abundantly clear that criminals will not be welcomed in Gwinnett County.
The District Attorney’s Office prosecutes all felonies committed against citizens in Gwinnett County, from credit card fraud to murder. It is important to elect someone with extensive experience, and I am the only candidate with the experience to prosecute all types of felonies in Gwinnett County. I have worked as a prosecutor and in private practice, giving me a unique understanding of the criminal justice system and the skills necessary to keep our community safe from crime.
Accountability in the criminal justice system is a two way street. People who harm and steal from other citizens must be held accountable for their actions. Especially those who are repeat offenders. With that being true, the District Attorney must also be held accountable to the community for the decisions made by the office on how offenders are prosecuted. The District Attorney’s Office should always be transparent with the community.
The District Attorney is considered the top prosecutor of Gwinnett County. This is not an administrative office position. You will see me out front and, in the courtroom, fighting for justice to victims. I will lead by example and strive to serve all citizens.
Pursuing justice in court system and advocating for victims of crime throughout the process regardless of age, race, sex, national origin, or religious affiliation.
Since graduating from law school, I have been actively serving my community by coaching high school mock trial teams and mentoring youth who aspire to pursue a legal career.
